More Than Just An Oven
Hello family, friends, lovers of bread and supporters of great causes. This coming Thursday, Nov. 16th, is Give the Max Day. Once again we have set a lofty goal of $2,000. This year the funds will help support a lesser known aspect of our brick oven program, continuing education and professional development.
Bricks to Bread knows that simply building a bread oven for a family does not guarantee a stable income. As with anything else, there is a learning curve. We are committed to changing lives and we are committed to our Bricks to Bread families. Therefore, we offer additional support for a year after the oven is built. We allocate a certain percentage of funds to ensure our families receive the training, support and resources they need to get up and running and to become self-sufficient.
What does this additional support include? It means we help our families learn how to run a small business. That can include a computer and internet access to take online courses, look up new recipes, and remotely connect with us and with other oven families. We help with travel expenses and fees to classes that are close enough and travel is a realistic possibility. Our funds also help with peer to peer mentoring and comradery. We help other oven recipients travel to the new oven’s location to share their firsthand knowledge of running a bakery in Costa Rica. We want to make sure our families are connected to a supportive network that is there to help them, cheer them on and rally for them to succeed.
Bricks to Bread is more than just brick ovens built in the jungle. We foster global stewardship, we rise up new leaders, we help others achieve financial stability and we do so by starting with a brick and a loaf.
Please join thousands of Minnesotans this Thursday giving to great causes and show your support for Bricks to Bread!
